Early access: Comments are currently available to a limited number of accounts. You can find out more about the program on our Early Access page, which is also linked from the Early access features menu item in the editor.

When your team discusses a story in comments, Pageflow lets you know about the activity that concerns you. You decide how much you want to hear about – from every comment in a story down to nothing at all – for all your stories at once, for a single story or for a single topic.

How to write, answer and resolve comments is explained in How can I use comments to collaborate on a story?

How You Are Notified

By mail – You receive a mail summarizing new topics, replies and resolved discussions. The mail follows once activity in a story has quieted down, so a review with many comments arrives as one mail instead of many.

In the story and the story list – A dot on the comment markers in the story and on the comment counter in the story list shows where there is activity you are notified about. Comments you have not read yet are highlighted either way.

What You Are Notified About

For every story, one of these settings decides which activity notifies you:

All activity – Every new topic, reply and resolution in the story.

Topics I have commented in – Everything in topics you have commented in or watch, but no new topics.

Topics I watch – Only the topics you have chosen to watch.

Muted – Nothing from this story.

Unless you or your account choose otherwise, you are notified about all activity in stories you are assigned to as a member, and about topics you have commented in for all other stories.

Watching or Muting a Topic

Open the three dot menu on the first comment of a topic, in the preview or in the editor. Choose Watch topic to be notified about everything in it, even if you have not commented there yourself, or Mute topic to stop hearing about it.

Settings for a Single Story

Open the story in the admin and use the Comment notifications button with the bell icon at the top. Choose one of the settings above for this story, or Default to follow your general settings again. The button shows which setting currently applies, and stories with a setting of their own show a bell icon in the story list.

Your General Settings

Open the menu under your name at the top of the admin and choose Notifications. For every account you belong to, you can choose:

  • a default for stories you are assigned to as a member,
  • a default for all other stories you can access,
  • whether you want to be notified by mail as well, or only in the story and the story list.

Defaults for Account Members

If you manage an account, you can decide what its members are notified about unless they choose otherwise. Go to Settings > Notifications under the Account heading and open the Comments tab. It offers the same options as the personal settings. Members can still change them for themselves and for individual stories.

For example, set the default for stories members are not assigned to to All activity if everybody should hear about every comment. Whoever registered the account already has this setting.

Muting a Story from a Mail

Every notification mail says why you received it. Use Mute this story at the bottom of the mail to stop notifications for that story right from your inbox, or Change comment notifications to adjust your settings.

Suggestions and Next Steps

Comment notifications are under active development. If something is missing, does not work as expected or you have an idea for an improvement, we would like to hear about it: just create a support ticket.
